Hi folks....I have a problem which hopefully someone out there can solve for me.
My surname is Stewart and I live in Scotland. Through tracing my family tree through my fathers mothers side I have landed at a marriage between Alen Todd and Beatrix Bethune.
However according to several other trees on the web site Ancestry.co.uk there is also mention of her having married to a Patrick Bethune as well.
Having examined all the info that I have I have a serious problem in believing that Beatrix and Patrick were married as according to the info they would have been cousins...possibly 1st or 2nd.
Now I know that that is not a deterent and in fact was fairly common in those far off steamy days but being a retired cop I want confirmation that there great grandparents were the Cardinal David Bethune and his partner Marion Ogilvy.
I have read that he had at least 8 children by her but I cannot identify them.
CAN ANYONE ASSIST IN THIS MATTER
