The Bethune/Ferguson/Stone relationship may come from Cumberland Co. North Carolina. I have Urquhart land deeds from that area which documents Urquhart lands adjacent to Bethune, Ferguson and Stone. John Stone seems to come to mind as being one I've seen quite often. Many family from this area moved through Georgia on into Alabama.
