In 1927 Union Noble Bethell, once a Vice-president of AT&T, wrote a genealogical sketch about the ancestry of the Heath, Cantrell, Bethell and Cloud families which was later published verbatim in a book by Virginia Garde, The Early Bethells. Her son, Jim Garde, later updated her book and again the 1927 Union Noble Bethel sketch was published verbatim. Unfortunately, the 1927 sketch does not cite research sources for Mr. Bethell's lineage conclusions. Mr. Bethell died in 1933. Does anyone know where Mr. Bethel's research records and data now are or who might have them or who might be able to provide information on Mr. Bethell's work? A man of Mr. Bethell's stature and education would most likely have documented anything which he published. His research records and data, if they can be found, might serve to resolve the controversy over the ancestry of the Catherine who married Joseph Cantrell of New Castle, DE, in the early 1700s. Any help or clues will be most appreciated.
