I found my 5th g-grandfather, Samuel Bond, Sr. on Ancestry.com as married to a Mary Bethel. As far as our records go this Samuel m. Anna Griffith. His estate records in June 1777 were signed by Ann. Ancestry has no documentation that I could find for this marriage ... just that it was entered by the Ancestry committee. They have his daughter Rachel's marriage to Nicholas Young. Rachel was our Samuel's daughter. Nicholas Young signed some of the estate papers for our 4th g-gdfather, Samuel, Jr. plus all of them are mentioned in Samuel Sr.'s estate. The DAR has a Samuel Bond married to this woman but he was a General in the Rev. War but he died the same year Sept 11, 1777. Our 4th g-gdfather, Samuel Bond, Jr. was in the Rev. and was killed by Indians on a march to Luzerne Co., Pa. That was Sept. 11, 1881. Is someone trying to confuse me here. It doesn't take a whole lot. According to local history records in Monroe County, PA our Samuel, Jr. was married to a Prudence. I have no record of our Samuel Sr. ever being in the Rev., let alone to be a General. Wow! I have the War records of Samuel Jr., he was a Cpl. Anyone ever heard of a Mary Bethel? And who is the General? I'm almost tempted to join the DAR to find out what this is about and why someone thinks that Rachel (Bond) Young belongs to him. Notify Administrator about this message?
