Bethea Family Genealogy Forum

I am a Black American and was born such and a Bethea;I have "never" met a White Bethea and did not think there were very many around although conceding that there were some in my family lineage. Can you distinguish the Black Bethea from Whites and mixed and tell where or when the White-Blacks intermixed? This is a serious question and I hope you will take it as such. I read the book "...History of Marion County," W.W. Sellers, and the entire lineage seem to refer to Whites only. Can you comment, please.?! My greatgrandfather, born sometime in 1800, Edward Bethea, Sr. was Black;I am told that an even more distant relative, called, 'KIllis Wright' (Right?)a slave was used as a 'stud' and that he fathered at least 40 known children. Can you help me with any of this?
