My name is Darryl and my gg-grandmother's name was Elizabeth Bethea. She was born in 1878 in Harleesville, SC in the county of Marion (in a part that is now Dillon County I think). Her father's name was Adam Bethea and
he was a slave born abt 1851. I got the dates from the 1880 census.

On that census there are other Betheas who live on the same street. I don't know if they were family or if they were merely owned by the same Bethea family. I intend on calling them (the White Betheas to see if they have records to illuminate the Black Bethea family lines).
