After I'd traced the Sellers Cochranes Betheas Parkers Stackhouses Councils Ropers Steeds and Murchisons via books entitled Kinfolks and Sellers' History of Marion County I found I was traveling on an almost monthly basis the Nansemond VA to Dillon County SC trail the Betheas made once and over decades... the stories began to make the history real... this weekend en route to Charleston from our home in VA we stopped at a gas station and took a snapshot of the cotton press made by John Bethea and of the message nearby... if you haven't seen it my son has the camera and the address where the press is; maybe his uncle will scan it and put it on his website if you'd like.
