The information you gave about "English" John having two sons, John (Virginia) and William is in line with the lineage put forth in Vol 3. of "Kinfolks" by William Curry Harlee, Searcy & Pfaff, Ltd., New Orleans, 1937. This chapter gives a rather authoritative outline of the Bethea line from "English" John until around 1930; most lines are traced to completion. You may also be interested in the Bethea family reunion held in Dillon, SC, on Father's day weekend in even-numbered years. What was the source of the new information you wrote about? I have been trying to determine the origin of "English" John.
