I am interested in learning more about Jeremiah Walters. My 4th great grandfather was James Andrew Waters/Walters (the spelling of his name changed back and forth between Waters and Walters). James was born in 1755 (place unknown) and was recorded as living in Marion County, SC, as early as 1785. James was married to Catherine (Kiddy) Parker, daughter of Moses Parker (b. 1744).

My great grandfather was named Thomas Crawford Waters and he was said to have been named for his grandmother. I believe that connection to be the Hardy Crawford/Rhoda Gibson line. Hardy and Rhoda's son, Willis Gibson Crawford (b. 1796) married Sarah (Sallie) Bethea(12/21/1806), daughter of James Bethea and Margaret Cochrane. Many of the names given to the children of Willis and Sarah are repeated in my great grandather's line.

While trying to find the connection between the two families, I have managed to collect about 200 Bethea's in my data base. I would be grateful for any exchange of information.

Thanks,
Gail
