BETHEAs of Cumberland Co NC
In 1820 Census two BETHEAs and their families were living in Cumberland Co NC: John and William. They are known to have been related to the Betheas of Marion District SC.
The family was also close to a James CALCUT/CALCOTE of Marion. When James died in 1820 he left 4 minor children - at first the two daughters, Jane and Hannah, were kept and schooled by James' estate, but after 1824 they disappear. They next reappear in NC getting married in 1827-28.Hannah married a Gully and Jane married Curtis Durham Grady in Cumberland Co (and to cap all this, both Gully and Grady were grandchildren of Ezekiel Slocumb).
