I'm really intrigued by your query. My father was the son of Edward Best of Leonia NJ. A late second child of three, he was also coincidentally named Howard Best, b 1934. Edward Best, my g-grandfather also happened to be a pharmacist, and also died fairly young, when my father was 18. Both your grandfather, and my grandfather could have been contempories--both were in NJ, both pharmacists, both dying fairly young, and the name Howard resonates. I know very little about this side of the family, I'm only just beginning my search, but I just had to comment on the similarities. I'll let you know if I discover anything else about this. Perhaps they are connected somehow. If not, good luck!
