Marilyn - I have put up what little I know on this family at:http://euphline.com/genealogy/vance/bessey/lydia.html. I also have the following from a county history of Racine & Kenosha Co., WI:farmer on Sec 32, Wheatland Twp, Kenosha Co., WI. was born in Germany in 1842; came to Wisconsin with his grandparents, in 1847. In 1861 he enlisted in the 1st Wisc. Vol Inf, Co C and engaged in all battles his company participated in; was in the battle of Chickamauga, a skirmish near Kenesaw Mountain, and others; was honorable discharged in October, 1864 at Milwaukee. Married, on June 11, 1865, Mrs. Lydia Palmer; she was born in the State of New York; Since his residence in Wheatland, Mr. V. has served as Assistant Supervisor for three terms, and Town Assessor one term, and District Clerk for eight years. He owns seventy acres of land, in good state of cultivation.
