Hi Sally:
Machias in "Maine" ? I know there is a Machias in New York State and there are Besseys burried there because it is very close to my brother's home in East Aurora, N.Y.
We are not from East Aurora but from Canada, my brother Verrall was born in Tonawanda, N.Y. and served in the U.S. Navy in WW 2 then stayed on in N.Y. after the war.
