A biography of Samuel Bessette is included in "Progressive Men of the State of Montana". Parents: Leon and Masaline Bessette, natives of Canada, who moved to New Bedford, MA. On 11 Jan 1870, New Bedford, MA, Samuel married Miss Melinda J. Loiseau, b. 1850, Bel Oiel, PQ, Canada, daughter of Joseph and Celina Loiseau. Two surviving Bessette children: Arthur A., b. 1882, Taunton, MA; William W., b. 1884, Iberville, PQ, Canada.
