My grandmother was Esther Bessent Mahoney, her father James Osburne Bessent of St. Mary's. I know a bit about the family, grew up in Jax Florida, and we have been to the cemetery in St. Mary's. I have spent most of my time researching the Mahoney's, and that is not much, though again lots of info. I am interested in learning more about the Bessents.

I found on the Mormon site record of Abraham and Ann fathering a James Bessant (spelling) in Camden in 1800, and James later married Elizabeth Braddock in 1824. I know this is my family - just dont have all the dates. My guess is that James and Elizabeth had a son - who had a son - who would be James, the father of my grandmother. Thus, Abraham would be my g-g-g-g grandfather, does this make sense, looking for more information, that could be an extra g if they married late.

Thanks,
Paul
