I am researching this name. I have a Charles Bi(E)ssent on the 1841 Census at Alphington, Exeter, Devon UK aged 95 yrs but NOT born in Devon. Did he come from Dorset? If so, anybody come across any Bessents/Bissents/Bessants etc in Dorset. Any information gratefully rec'd.
