Hallo Sandy,
my english is not good enough to express all I want to tell you.But I try it and I hope you understand everything.
In my listing of my Bertsch-tree must be a mistake, because between bertsch jakob, born 14.3.1858 and johann Christian Bertsch born 24.12. 1799 should be another person. The difference seems me to great. Normally people married in the age of 25 to 30, and than we have exact the distance from 1799 to 1858 (=59 years =30 +29).
I think we can find all this persons in the books of the protestant church in Scherzheim.
I try to find out, where the name comes from. I know that it is an old name of the allemann-tribe. The Allemannen
settled in the very south -west of Germany, in the valley of Rhine, than in switzerland (german-speaking part)to the lake of Constanz and also in Tirol ( Austria). They speak all the special alleman dialekt, like the swiss-german with this special ch.
You also find names like Bartsch, Bertschi( very swiss),Bertsche,Bärtsch and in a book on the 15 century I found Bertschen.
I am just now at the beginning of my studies. I hope I can find a connection.
Also in your list must be a mistake. Johann Jakob Bertsch, born 1780, can not be the father of Christian, born 10 years later and also Magdalena Hanssel, born 1767, seems to old for johann Jakob ( 13 years)
I hope I find one day the time to go to Scherzheim and look for the right dates and names.
Werner
