Thank you for answering! I appreciate your suggestions. I tried contacting the county in Pennsylvania where she was married and where her daughter, Mary Louisa Everard, was born in 1840, but records prior to 1850 had been destroyed in a fire. I feel quite certain that "my" Louisa Bertrand's family was from Quebec. Thanks again.
