Adeline Sherwood was born Adeline Bertholf. She was a widow at the time of her death. Born in 1827, she was the daughter of Lucas Bertholf and ____Larve Bertholf (her first name apparently unknown). Adeline is buried in the DeKay plot in the Florida, NY cemetery. Now to speculation. Elbert Hallock was the father of Clara Hallock DeKay. Clara's mother was Maria Bertholf Hallock who was born in 1825. So it is quite possible that Maria and Adeline may have been sisters. If so, it would make Adeline an Aunt to Clara Hallock DeKay and would explain why she is buried in the DeKay plot.
