Hi Marjorie
I have a Forrest Bertholf b.June 20,1883 Winterset Iowa His wife was Jessie Bulter His father was Zachariah Bertholf b. March 12,1836 Indiana d.Oct.16,1903 Collbran Colorado.
I'm not sure he's the same Bertholf but several bertholf families lived in the Collbran, Mesa County, Colorado. I'm like yourself trying to find a native american link. good luck Ron
