Thanks for the reply, Melanie.Since posting my message, I have identified the names of the children of Daniel C. Brawn and Sally Berry, although I still know nothing about the parentage of either of them. The census information you mention is, indeed, of their family.Jonathan S. was Jotham S.Maretta was Marietta. The Daniel born about 1840 was, I believe, a grandson, son of their son Daniel. My Abigail was already married in 1850.They had 10 children, but no Eben, I'm sorry to say. Perhaps the information I now have may be helpful to you, if only in eliminating possibilities. Much of this information is based on the research of an uncle (Darrel Abel) and a cousin of my mother (Thelma Wait).
DANIEL C. BRAWN was born about1779 in Maine, and died after February 1, 1865 in Maine. He married SARAH "SALLY" BERRY October 21, 1813 in New Sharon, Franklin, Maine. Both are said to be “of New Sharon”.The marriage is recorded in the records of New Sharon, Franklin, Maine.Sally was born 1793 in perhaps Bath, Maine, and died April 30, 1857 in Mercer, Somerset, Maine. There was a Brawn female married in New Sharon at approximately the same time as Daniel and Sally: Sally Brawn "of Mercer", who married Joseph Shaw of New Sharon, intentions filed January 15, 1814.There was also a Phebe F. Brawn "of Mercer", who married Nathaniel Boyington of New Sharon May 3, 1829.
Daniel is mentioned as being alive in his son Jotham's will, dated Feb. 1, 1865, probated in Franklin County, Maine.
Children of DANIEL BRAWN and SARAH BERRY are:
i. DANIEL BRAWN, b. July 6, 1814, New Sharon, Franklin, ME; d. Bef. February 1, 1865.He married BETSEY DAY.According to Thelma Wait, Daniel was a tanner, harness and saddlemaker. He is mentioned as being deceased in the will of his brother Jotham. It is also implicit in the will that Daniel left children. It appears that Daniel probably died before 1850, as Thelma Wait notes a child John, son of the widow of Daniel, died in Feb. 1850 at the age of9. A son William Brawn, age 11 was shown as a pauper, living with Elnathan and Rachel Swift at New Sharon in the 1850 census. It seems probable that the Daniel born about 1840 who was in the household of Daniel C. Brawn in 1850 was son of this Daniel, as well.
ii. SARAH (SALLY) BRAWN2, b. October 30, 1816, New Sharon, Franklin, ME; d. Aft. February 1, 1865, probably Leeds, Androscoggin, ME; m. JOSIAH MOULTON2, August 24, 1841, Leeds, Androscoggin, ME; b.
