Hi, Barb:
I believe thatI may have the BERRY family that your Mary Berry belonged to.Here are the notes in my files for Lt. James Berry and his wife Rebecca [possible surname ROGERS].As you wade through it, you see that James and Rebecca had a daughter, Mary ‘Polly’ Berry who married “Drury Wall or Wells” which seems quite close to who you are looking for:

“That James Berry, who was a brother to, and one of the heirs at law to the said George Berry, deceased, is dead and that he died intestate, leaving the Complaintants, Drury Wells and Polly, his wife, Robert Berry, Thomas Berry, James Berry and Wm Berry, his heirs at law;”
[Carol’s NOTE:this extract part of a very long Hempstad C, AK lawsuit which serves to outline the descendants of Thomas Berry Jr/Mary Unknown.]

Lt. James Berry was one of the eight sons of Thomas Berry Jr and his first wife Mary Unknown.I have conflicting information on the surname for the wife of Lt. James Berry. It may have been ROGERS, but I am unsure.
Thomas Berry Jr’s 1812 Will has been transcribed and is posted on Washington Co, VAGenWeb Archives at:
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/washington/wills/b6000003.txt
I don’t have a good surname for the wife of Thomas Berry Jr either, but it has been speculated to have been EDMONDSON.I know of no documentation to prove her surname.Thomas Berry Jr’s widow was Prudence (Rowlett) Dickinson, but they married in 1807, both widowers, so there were no children from that marriage.
Thomas Berry Jr was one of 12 children of Thomas Berry Sr.I work with a small research group studying the extended BERRY family of Augusta/Rockbridge/Washington counties, Virginia. We recently updated our website with extensive information on the first two generations of this family.Thomas Berry Sr was one of the 2nd Generation.Go to:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~berry/http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~berry/
scroll down and click on ‘Genealogy Report’
and then click on Thomas Berry Sr.
We are now working on the generation which Thomas Berry Jr was a part -- the 3rd -- so while I have extensive documentation on him, it is still in rough draft. The information above on one of his eight sons, Lt. James Berry, is all that I have on him, but would be very interested in anything further that you know about James/Rebecca and any other of their children, but particularly would appreciate knowing more about Mary Berry/Drury Wall to the extent that you know for my files.I would infer from the above records that Mary/Drury were married 'by Jan 1817' in Williamson Co, TN.
Look forward to hearing back from you,
