Sally:I found your Berrys. In 1960 a Miss Mary Berry of Jackson,MS commissioned a researcher named Milton J. Harper to search her family tree. The results were published in the "Berry Bulletin" Vol.10,No.3 (July, Aug., Sept., 1995 issue):
"John Berry, born @1740, lived near Richmond, Va.Had three children: John, David and German. These bros. all married and lived in SC before moving to MS.John md. a Miss Polk of Greenville, SC.En route these people lived about one year in Erie, Green Co., AL.John Berry shows up on Simpson Co., MS tax records from 1828-1834. It is assumed he died in 1834 or 1835."
He concludes that JOHN BERRY, SR. is the father of John, David and German. But he does not know the name of their mother who he says was still living in 1800 census in the household of John Berry, Sr. in Chesterfield County, SC and was over 45 years of age.He says that John Sr. lived in Bladen Co., NC before 1748; in Anson Co., NC in 1748; in Cheraw District, SC in 1790; and in Chesterfield Co., SC in 1800.There are several pages in that 1995 "Berry Bulletin" concerning this family.I hope this helps. -- Ross Berry (Auburn Hills, MI)
