To Daan de Clerq: My grandmother's cousin, Marie ("Rolly") Berrian lived in Montclair, New Jersey about that time. She married Dr. John Nelson Teeter and had two daughters. We are of the New York branch of this French Huguenot family which spells its name with an a. Those who spell it with an e are of the branch which settled in Kingston NJ before the American Revolution. Some emigrated to Georgia but many still live in New Jersey. See the Berrien family genealogy edited by E. Renee Heiss in 1983.
