Bernier Family Genealogy Forum

Hello , I
just wanted to add that do not forget that there are published corrections to the Tanguay and Drouin by now, and also that French law ( also exercised in French Canada)made it so that there were separate civic and religious records. However your marriage being recorded in church was considered a valid civic record as well. So even though your marriage certificate was drawn up January 16 1721 for instance you might have married a day later, or even a month later, and so when people start recording in their gen data banks one or the other only, then we end up with discrepancies. So there is a possibility that there are some civic records at the Archives in Paris.Another point is the order of day-month-year,people have to be careful to record it in the right order and not month day year(as in modern English). The best is just to invert it and record year,month,day.((P.S. I though Mr Cyril Bernier might have passed away and that's why we haven't heard from him? Does anybody know for sure??) Cousine Helene
