There are a bunch of "Dit Paris" and "De Paris" names. All that means is that the person said they were from Paris. So your name of Caroline Alexander De Paris = Caroline Alexander, of Paris. Sometimes the family adopted the dit/de names and sometimes they didn't. Sometimes they combined the name to become Deparis and that got bastardized out to Desperance. If they changed the De to Le, then it went to Leparis or Lesperance. The variations are endless. Are we having fun yet? Notify Administrator about this message?
