Hi Gary,
This is exciting because we really have little info on the Berner family. My husband's grandmother was Bertha Berner born in 1874 who married Walter Morris in 1892. She died in 1964 in the Bronx. There never seemed to be any contact between her and the Berner family.
The only real info I have about the Berner's is a copy of the 1880 NY census which lists the family as follows: Henry Berner, age 32, born in Germany, a butcher; his wife, Barbara, age 33, also born in Germany; 4 children, all born in NY. Georgie, age 10, Bertha, age 5, Henry, age 2, Frankie age 2 months. They were living on West 38th St. I don't know if that is Brooklyn on Manhattan as the census lists New York as the county on this report. I'd be happy to scan you a copy of this. It's a bit dark but readable.
Would this fit in with your family info and, if so, could you share what info you have? I really would appreciate it. Thanks. Pat Morris
