Not related to my family. Thought it may help you. Obit-Rome, Oneida Co., NY Otto H. Berndt, 54, Dies Suddenly Stricken while on Leave of Absence Otto H. Berndt, 54 , died, suddenly this morning at 2:40 o'clock this morning at his home, 406 W. Locust St. He was on leave of absence from Revere Copper and Brass where he had been employed as chief clerk of sales department for the past 38 yeers. Born July 27, 1892, in Germany, he was the son of Charles and Minnie Wittmann Berndt. He came to this county and Rome with his parents in 1893 and on Sept. 30, 1912, married C. Belle Simmons in St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Samuel Michael performed the ceremony. Mr. Berndt was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, a past vice-president of the church congregation and treasurer of the church for several years. He was also affiliated with Rome Lodge 96, B.P.O. Elks; Independent Hose Co., No.1 and Firemen's Benevelent Association. Besides his wife , he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Minnie Berndt; one daughter , Mrs. John F. Flanagan; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd Coon and Mrs. Charles Taylor, New London; two brothers, William and Edward Berndt.
