I am a descended from that line also,the info we have is John's father was a Count Pierre Bernard and his father was Count Francoise Bernard from France,the story we heard is that Francoise left France for political reasons and went to England,his son Pierre is the father of our John Bernard who came to the U.S.around 1720 at the age of 14,without his fathers permission,he married Mary Ann Abney on May 2 1729,one of thier sons named John b Nov16 1736 married Elizabeth Barnett on Mar 6 1760 and so on if you need more info e mail me and Iwill send more.
