Mary Bernard abt. 1851-1930-La/Fr./Japan

My great grandmother was a Mary Bernard, I know very little about her, except that she married Charles H. H. Hall in about 1881, and had one son together, Elmon Lawrence Hall, born late in 1881 in Leadville, Colorado. She had family living in France up until at least the 1920's as she spent a lot of time there, taking up residence there for a short time. She also had family in the New Orleans area, one of which was supposed to have been an artist. I do not know any other of the Bernard family names, however at this point in time. Her husband was an assistant surgeon in the U.S. Navy at the time they were married, probably in NY at the time. I still haven't been able to piece together how my grandfather ended up being born in Leadville, Co. Charles, Mary and Elmon moved to Yokohama where Charles was stationed at a U.S. military hospital there. Mary came and went, leaving Charles to raise my grandfather much of the time, and eventually Charles and Mary divorced around 1900, but Mary still spent time in Yokohama, as well as France and California, where my grandfather was attending Stanford University, graduating in 1902. We have always assumed that Mary was born either in France, or in New Orleans, but as yet I haven't been able to confirm either location, find her date of birth, etc. I do know that she died sometime after 1927.
