Saw your note on GENFORUM and I believe that I can be of some help to you. We have a similar line of line of decent, my Grandmother was a Benjamin, and my aunt Maggie did a lot of research on the family.
My Great-Grandfather was also John Bernard, of Gardiner, NY and my Great-Grandmother was also Mary (Masten) Mastin.
Peter H. E.Bernard was my 2nd Great-Grandfather.
