I've been trying to determine if my wife's great-grandfather, Jean Louis Bernard, was born there or that he parents (Perhaps Jean and Sarah) were from that village. He had 2 sisters, Mary E. and Alphonsine. He claimed to be from Bernard, France. He may have been born in New Orleans, however. My LaBorde connection is Les Landes, village of Tartas.
