The Bermudez of my family came from I think Cadiz Spain. From Spain, they went to Venezuela. From there, around 1800's they went to the Dominican Republic.
My grandmother always told us a story that there were three brothers who came with Columbus and one died in route. We always laughed at this. Most recently, I found the records of Columbus log and sure enough, there are two Bermudez brothers.
My family tree is 15 pages long. I am waiting for additional information from Valencia Venezuela with information dating further back regarding my family. It begins with Nicolas Bermudez who was born in Venezuela. He married Barbara Jimenez, also born in Venezuela. They had a son by the name of Erasmo Bermudez Jiminez born in 1825, in Valencia Venezuela. These are the Bermudez who went to the Dominican Republic.
They were and are a very rich family. Not all of them of course. The money came from a Rum factory. Popi Bermudez who is one of the richest members of my family still lives in the Dominican Republic with his family. He is a very nice man. I had the privledge of meeting him at his grandaughters wedding. Popi's father and my grandmothers father are directly related.
There are so many stories regarding this family. I am going to look though the family tree. I know that one of the Bermudez went to Puerto Rico and was married.
