Elmer Winfred Brown was also a farmer, whose family owned considerable property in Bermuda's Hamilton Parish around Bailey's Bay.

He is buried in Holy Trinity Churchyard in Bermuda's Hamilton Parish, in a tomb which bears the name of his wife Effie Winifred Lightbourne Brown.

His youngest daughter was named Dorothy.
