Samuel Mayo, aged 10 years, born ca. 1625, parents unknown, came to Bermuda from London, England on the " True Love " in 1635. On the passenger list also was Rev. John Oxenbridge, who was born in Daventry, Northamptonshire, England on Jan. 30, 1608/09, s/o Dr. Daniel Oxenbridge and Katherine Harby, of London, England. According to Daniel's will, he and son, John, owned land in Bermuda. Looking at the passenger list of this ship in 1635, there were mostly children and teen-agers, with alot fewer adults. I am wondering if these young people were orphans or destitute, and perhaps were brought to Bermuda for apprenticeships or similar purposes. I have no proof of this however.
I am searching for any information concerning what happened to this Samuel Mayo in Bermuda or elsewhere. If anyone can help me, please feel free to e-mail me.
