Looking for any information about a Coomes family or individual before 1820. Could be connected with the Tucker Family and could be a marine.
The father of our geat grandfather, James Tucker Coomes is said to have been a captain of a ship that was lost at sea between 1817 and 1843. We don't know where the son of that mariner, James T. Coomes, was during that period. The son, James T. was born abt. 1817 (census)in Maryland, US, and was married 1843. Sometime during the interval he went to sea in search of his father. Failing he returned to Maryland to find his mother and siblings gone. He never saw them again. He migrated south to Grayson Co., Va. where he remarried in 1857, raised a family and died after 1896. We are searching for the parens of James Tucker Coomes.
