Cox & Seymour Families, 17th & 18th Centuries
Posted by: Michele (ID *****1072) Date: September 10, 2009 at 13:57:02

I am trying to find sourced information about the family of Elizabeth Cox, the daughter of John Cox whose will was "proved before his Excellency James Glen Esq 19th January 1744" (James Glen was Governor of South Carolina). John Cox was the son of Florentius Cox and the grandson of John Cox, who married a Seymour. All four generations seem to have been born in Bermuda.

The above information was obtained from "The Descendants of John Cox" by C S Williams, published 1909, available online at:

http://www.archive.org/details/descendantsofjoh00will

and "The Cox Family in America" by H M Cox, published 1912, available online at:

http://www.archive.org/details/coxfamilyinamer00coxgoog

I believe the following books contain more information about these families:
Bermuda Settlers of the 17th Centry, Julia E Mercer
Ancestral Records and Portraits, Colonial Dames of America

However, I am unable to obtain any copies of these books and would greatly appreciate any sourced information about these families.

Thank you,

Michele.
