Thanks so much for all the information.
Per the 7 July 1797 marriage of William Godfrey and Mary Goodman: was that in Bermuda? I wonder if this was a different, younger William (not the father of the brothers Peter & William).
I did find William, who I believe is s/o Willaim & Sarah Wainwright in a Buenas Aires cemetery: age 32, b. Bermuda, cause of death listed as consumption, occupation seaman, single. There's another William Godfrey, same cemetery, age 40, no place of birth, 27 Mar 1828. [St John's Cemetery, Socorro Parish].
I suspect the William Godfrey who sold the Norfolk property to William Jowell was the one married to Elizabeth Tatum. This William Godfrey's sister Anne married Nathaniel Tatum who was a witness to Richard Joell's 1734/5 Norfolk will. -- all of these children of John Godfrey & Mary Nichols. And this John and his brother Warren were the brothers mentioned in Matthew Godfrey's 1717 will -- leaving their male heirs a store at the Great Bridge in Norfolk VA. This Matthew's wife was Isabella Burgess (another Bermuda family name). Another of John & Mary Nichols Godfrey's children was Amy who maried John Hutchings who was both a sea captain & served as mayor of Norfolk.
Much speculation above for which I have no documentation. Still, I don't think your Peter & his brother Willaim came from Warren's line as that given name does not appear as even a middle name in later generations.
Have you any idea who Peter Albouy was? He married Esther Stowe. Only one child that I know of: Mary Spencer Stowe b.abt.1777, d.1809 & was married to John Ingham.
