Hello Judy in Bermuda -
First I would like to trade places with you - I'm living in Connecticut and looking out the window at nothing but snow and Ice - how I long for some gardening time! Well since I can't enjoy my 1st love yet I'll get back to my other love - tracking down elusive relations! - Did I mention it's also very COLD?
I have not researched in Bermuda previously but I believe my research has brought me here -
I am researching the DICKINSON and MCDONALD families - I have a SAMUEL J. DICKINSON - He married ELIZA MARY ?? and they had a daughter THERESA ANN DICKINSON (nickname Maggie)
who was born 1833 in Charleston, SC, I believe - I have no other info on SAMUEL DICKINSON but I believe their connection, possibly he OR his parents were born in Bermuda. These DICKINSON'S and MCDONALD'S were Mariners.
ISAAC MCDONALD born about 1760 was a Sea Captain and his son was WILLIAM HENRY MCDONALD b. 1805 in New Brunswick, NC. WILLIAM HENRY MCDONALD'S son was WILLIAM TROUT MCDONALD b. 1831 Brunswick, NC.and he also was a Captain.
WILLIAM TROUT was a blockade runner from Charleston, SC. and was running between Bermuda and Wilmington, NC, & Charleston, SC.
If you know none of my Dickinson or McDonald's would you be able to direct me to where I could possibly look? As I said, I am a newby at researching Bermuda! Thanks very much for any input that you may offer -
Best to you,
Samantha
