Johnsons - Hinsons Island

We migrated to Bermuda January 1967 and lived there until March 1968. During our stay I made many visits to Hinsons Island to visit the late Hilda Johnson. According to my late Grandparents the Johnsons were cousins. I have never been able to prove or disprove this connection which I suspect if true was through Hilda rather than her husband.

Can anyone help me with this?

Only information I have is recall being told Hilda & husband Burt founded Elbow Beach & when sold to Sir John Moores the 'pools' man bought Hinsons Island. The Burt I refer to presume was R P Johnson mentioned on the Elbow Beach website. Burt had died before we arrived on the island in 1967.

I have many pleasant memories of my visits. Recall being shown around the island by my grandfather and being told that the 'cutting' through which the road up from the ferry wharf was hand cut by prisoners (presume) from Boer War.

Also the house Hilda lived in with its commanding view from the veranda had been lived in by one of the Kitcheners - Field Marshal Earl Kitchener?

Think Burt & Hilda had a son.

Can anyone help me with this or put me in touch with someone who can?

Thanks ...
