Berminghams in Coventry

I am married to Patrick Bermingham and we live in Coventry, UK. We're not that far from the City of Birmingham and occasionally visit the church of St Martins in the Bull Ring which has tombs of three de Berminghams from the Middle Ages.

Many years ago the church had a little booklet with a brief history of the de Berminghams in it. As I recall, the de Berminghams came over to England with the Norman invasion (their feudal lords were the de Burghs). One or more branches of the family went to Ireland, presumably as part of the English suppression of the country, but others remained in the UK. During the Reformation, the young heir to the English branch of the family (who were staunch Catholics)was sent to live in Ireland (with the distant relatives?) and the English line pretty well died out.

My husband's family are originally from Dublin, his father emigrated here probably in the late 1940's. My husband is Patrick Joseph, his father was Patrick John and his grandfather was also a Patrick. Patrick the grandfather was married to Katharine (with think as she was always known as Kitty) and may have owned a coal business. They had four sons and one daughter who died while still young. We have no other information about the family at all and would love to fill in the gaps.
