Maureen-
My greatgrandfather, John Birmingham, was a tailor who emigrated to the USA, spent some time in New Jersey and then moved to western New York (Town of Batavia, Genesee Co.). My father told me that the family (originally, Bermingham) came from Co. Clare but had no further data. I would be very happy to learn more. One of John's parents was named Honore or Honora and he had seven siblings, all of whom he moved to the USA-- or so the story goes.
John married a girl named Mary O'Leary from Tipperary and they had about eight children, one of whom was my grandfather, William
Does any ot his make sense from your perspective?
