Hi-
Can you give me the address too? I found the berkshire book listed in an on-line library catalog as having a Dent family connection in it.
My 3g-grandmother was Dorcas Berkshire, b. 1797 d/o William Berkshire of Cumberland on the Potomac. She moved to Monongalia as a child. I'd really like to know who dorcas' mother was.
Dorcas married James Dent, whose father John Dent had a plantation near the Berkshire plantation in Monongalia, WV.
Dorcas' aunt Mahala (b. 1792) married James' brother Dudley Evans Dent.
Dorcas and James moved to IL in the 1830's and according to a daughter's memoirs, they stopped in Newcastle, Indiana to visit 'Uncle Lazier'. If anyone is interested, I posted a transcription of the memoirs on a Dent bbs for biographies (I think it was genconnect).
Thanks very much for the help!
