Hi Carol, I am mystified by the Jackson county part of your Swedish location. There is no Jackson county in Sweden. Look at these maps (county and province) of Sweden. http://www.algonet.se/~hogman/swe_counties_map_eng.htm http://www.algonet.se/~hogman/swe_provinces_map_eng.htm I suppose that "Oby" might be Ödeby (a parish in Örebro county) and "Nark" is probably "Närke" province. "Orebro Lane" is Örebro län (county). I found this person on the Emibas CD, made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country. Post 892126 Bergström, Per Inhyse (married man) b. 7/13/1812 in Hallsberg, Örebro län (Närke) Emigrated 10/15/1871 from Sörängen, Ödeby, Örebro län (Närke) to Nordamerika Source: Household Examination Roll, p. 70 Emibas migration file ID: Ödeby T 1871 001 Inhyse = tenant. Post 892125 Andersdotter, Kerstin Inhysehustru (married woman) b. 2/20/1815 in Stora Mellösa, Örebro län (Närke) Emigrated 10/15/1871 from Sörängen, Ödeby, Örebro län (Närke) to Nordamerika Source: Household Examination Roll, p. 70 Emibas migration file ID: Ödeby T 1871 002 Inhysehustru = tenant's wife. From the Emihamn database of CD Emigranten, made from registrations with the Swedish port police before leaving Sweden: (Per and Peter are often the same name.) First name: PETTER Last name: BERGSTRÖM Age: 60 Gender: M Parish: ODEBY County: T (Örebro) Port: GÖTEBORG Date: 1871 10 20 (registration date) Destination: NEW YORK Fellows: JA (Ja = yes. He traveled with someone on his ticket.) Source: 5:705:5673 First name: KJERSTIN Head: BERGSTRÖM PETTER Age: 57 Gender: K (kvinna = woman) Parish: ODEBY County: T Title/Note: H (hustru = wife) Port: GÖTEBORG Date: 1871 10 20 Destination: NEW YORK Fellows: JA Source: 5:705:5673 It doesn't seem that he would have landed in New York City in 1869, however.
