Bergeron Family Genealogy Forum

My ancestor, Francis, and 2 of his brothers, Henri and Justin, came with LaFayette to fight in the Rev War. Family pos. belonged to the House of Normande. In Francis' military records his surmane is spelled "BADGRO" and made note of the language barrier. I'm sure that whoever wrote down "BADGRO" did his best to put onto paper the French word spoken by Francis. Through the next four generations the name changed to "BADGERO" and finally to "BADGEROW". My ggrandfather always said that the name should be spelled like "BERGER--?". Knowing very little French, we have wondered if the name may have been "BERGEREAUX", "BERGEREAU", or what???... possibly it was "BERGERON". I do have some further info on Francis' other siblings: [1] Henri b: bet 1740/1757 FRA m: abt 1778 Mary GORDON; [2] girl b: abt 1742 FRA; [3] girl b: abt 1745 FRA; [4] Jean Claud b: abt 1746 FRA; [5] Justin b: abt 1748 FRA [6] Francis b: abt 1750 Les Sables d'Olonne FRA d: Naples, Ontario co., NY Also, Francis' son, David b: 1772 Les Sables d'Olonne, FRA - mother's name unknown. Does anyone recognize this family? Thanks!
