Hi, my name is Greg Riley and I live in the Los Angeles area. My mother's name is Desneiges Bergeron and her family comes from Quebec. My advice to you is to start at the Mormon temple on Santa Monica Boulevard. The resources are extensive and the staff is very helpful (it's open to the public). I'm guessing that your family comes from Louisiana and is Catholic in origin. The best place is the Catholic Church records in either Louisiana or Quebec. It is necessary to locate the parish that the family attended. There you will find all the records. The tricky part is locating the individual parish. I've made several trips to Quebec and I speak French, but is was still tricky. Once I found the parishes, everything was there. Bonne chance. E-mail me at grileype@aol.com with any questions.
