I have a copy of the original Ste Claire, Bellechasse, Church records for my great grandmother Emilie Bergeron who m. on 30 April 1861 to Norbert Tanguay, son of Pierre Tanguay and Archange Remillard. Her parents are given on the record as Joseph Bergeron and Emilie Nadeau. Norbert Tanguay died 10 June 1873 (Ste-Claire church record). Emilie remarried a Bernier and at least 5 of her 6 children were raised by Tanguay relatives (source my mother, living, and dau. of Norbert's son Albert B. Tanguay (born 1869 Ste-Claire, PQ and died 1942 East Charleston, Vt). Her son never saw his mother again after his mother's remarriage in 1875 and only two of his children did see her again (picture of them taken when leaving home that day) when they were about age 20. Researcher, Jean-Luc Bergeron, has separate records that confirm this birth and both marriages: From Jean-Luc Bergeron, Genforum Bergeron Message Board: Georges-Joseph BERGERON (Jean BERGERON & Marie GUÉNARD) m. 1842-09-06, Beaumont, QC. Émilie NADEAU children: Émilie BERGERON m1. 1861-04-30, Ste-Claire, QC. with Noël TANGUAY m2. 1875-04-05, Ste-Claire, QC. with Siméon BERNIER M-Louise BERGERON m. 1873-01-14, Warwick, QC. with Pierre MERCIER Pierre BERGERON m. 1874-02-02, Warwick, QC. with Zoé BROCHU I have found Emilie and Simeon Bernier in the Ditton, Quebec 1881 census and lost them after that. I would appreciate any information on her whereabouts, family and death place which I have been unable to locate. They left Ditton. 1881 Canadian Census, Ditton, Quebec (LDS online): Simeon BERNIER M Male French 30 Quebec Farmer Catholic Emilie BERNIER M Female French 37 Quebec Catholic Edmund TANGUAY Male French 18 Quebec Farmer Son Catholic Emilie TANGUAY Female French 16 Quebec Catholic Adele TANGUAY Female French 14 Quebec Catholic Albert TANGUAY Male French 12 Quebec Catholic Marie TANGUAY Female French 9 Quebec Catholic Evangeliste TANGUAY Male French 7 Quebec Catholic Joseph BERNIER Male French 4 Quebec Catholic Wihelmine BERNIER Female French 2 Quebec Catholic -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Information: Census Place Ditton, Compton, Quebec Family History Library Film 1375834 NA Film Number C-13198 District 54 Sub-district A Page Number 5 Household Number 24 The Tanguay children are not actually living with the couple and never did after their marriage in 1875.
