I wondered who Marie Marguerite Cyr's parents were. David Bergeron was kind enough to send me a lot of information, but it did not include the names of her parents. Now I think I know why. I believe the reason is because her parent's are not listed in the St-Martin de l'Île-Jésus marriage répertoire. I also checked the Loiselle Index, but her parent's names are only a question mark there. It seems that the names of her parents were not recorded at the time of her marriage to Antoine Bergeron in 1811. On the 1851 census for Ste-Scholastique, Marie Marguerite Cyr's age is listed as 60, which, if correct, would mean that she was born in 1791. To see the results I would get, I did a search on the PRDH web site for baptisms of "Marie Marguerite Cyr". Interestly enough, there was only ONE instance of a Marie Marguerite Cyr born in 1791, and this was a 1791 St-Eustache baptism. Of course, the names of the parents of the Marie Marguerite Cyr baptised in St-Eustache in 1791 are recorded on the baptism record. If this could be verified and confirmed, we would likely very easily have her entire ancestry, since this should be readily available from the PRDH. However, we cannot assume that this Marie Marguerite Cyr baptised in St-Eustache in 1791 is the same Marie Marguerite Cyr who married Antoine Bergeron in 1811. Unfortunately, there are also a few other Marie Marguerite Cyr's born around that time period (one in 1786 in Ste-Rose, for example -- although that would have made her 65 in 1851, the ages given on census records are often incorrect). I look forward to your comments and/or suggestions. Thank you. Gerry Notify Administrator about this message?
