UPDATES
I have just learned that Louis Berger was born in Russia in 1875. According to the 1910 Census of Illinois, Cook County, Louis arrived in this country in 1888 and his wife to be, Rose came in 1894. They must have married about 1896. They had been married 14 years in 1910 and he was 35 years old. Two daughters are shown on the Census report, Jennie is nine and Ettie is seven. The census shows that they all came from Russia and all speak Yiddish. However, the children must have been born in this country according to their listed ages. Louis was a carpenter and Rose worked in a stationery store.
Also I have learned that Louis' father was known to the family as Haskell but he is listed on census and death records as being Kasper/Casper Berger. His wife was known both as Mary and as Sarah.
My web page address has changed too. Find the Berger pages now at: http://eljaysartlines.com/genealogy/haskellbio.htm
