Medina, OH

Esther F. Berger, 106, of Medina, formerly of Monroe County, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, in Rittman.

She was born June 21, 1898, in Hannibal, Ohio, to Sam-uel and Caroline (nee Braun) Rufener and was a Medina County resident for five years. She was a member of the Grange and St. John's Methodist Church in Sardis, Ohio. Mrs. Berger was a homemaker, and did quilting pieced by hand at the age of 106. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

She is survived by her sons, Glen (Arline) Berger of Medina, Vernon Berger of Seville and Samuel (Sarah) Berger of Orrville; daughter, Martha (Francis) Schafer of Hannibal; daughter-in-law, Edna Berger of Medina; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; son, Waldo; daughter-in-law, Lola Berger; one brother; and three sisters.

Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Drive, Clarington, Ohio.

Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Monroe County.

Visiting hours: 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Armstrong-Waite Funeral Home, Seville, handled local arrangements.
